Sokka Vigithan

                   Born on 9th February at Kilinochi, Srilanka, Vigithan Sokka, a passionate artiste, having finished his advanced level at Vattakachi Mahavidyalayam, has always been driven by his fervent interest in arts and paintings from a tender age. This interestedness of his made him pursue a degree in art and design at the prestigious University of Jaffna in the year 2002. Vigithan proved himself as a versatile student excelling across all the activities at the University by serving as the Student Union President at the faculty of Fine Arts and even more. 

The Over-all award that he had won during his first year at the University bears testimony to the skillfulness that he possessed apart from majoring in art.

 

          He won the Srilankan National Championship for the year 2005 in Karate  and also served as the Vice-captain of the karate team. He also has to his credit of getting the second Don Black-belt from Bonerobert.

Proving his skill in having an urge for cartoons, he also served as a cartoonist for the newspaper Elanadu run by the Tamil Elam.

He also has completed a diploma in multimedia.

In the year 2006, he displayed his artworks at an exhibition at Tamil Ela Nunkalai Kallori (Tamil Ela College of Fine Arts), Kilinochi under the title “Saalaram Vazhiye ovian viralgal”  and was awarded by the Tamil Eela National leader Velupillai Prabakaran.

 

         The year 2006 saw the release of the book consisting of his own collections of paintings and poems.

In 2008, he moved to France and served at the Valary TV channel as a presenter and technician. Within a short span of time he established himself as a cinematographer, visual effect artiste, editor, graphic designer and a make-up artiste as well apart from directing and acting in Short films.

 

In 2009, he was edit a short film titled “Vithi mel Veethi” directed by Mr. Thayalan.

In the year 2010, he had the credit of playing the lead and also working as the VFX artiste and art director in an award winning short film Semmalayan directed by Mr.Ramanan. The film bagged the second place in the Navalar Short Film festival and Vigithan won the award for the BEST VFX ARTISTE AND ART DIRECTOR.

 

By winning many awards such as the Best Cine Photographer, Best Art Director and the Best VFX Artist for the short film called Kalam and the Best Editor for the short-film Atpa thee, he went about to start his own production house titled “FRAME PRODUCTION” focusing on various genres of photography including Cine photography.
